Several of Henry County's amateur radio operators have come together to form the Henry County Amateur Radio Emergency Service or Henry County ARES. This is a volunteer service , consisting of licensed amateurs, providing emergency communication for other emergency services in Henry County and surrounding communities. ARES's volunteers provide communication for government agencies, disaster relief organizations, public service events, emergencies or disasters and training exercises. Additionally, ARES operators will receive training in message handling, communication technology, administrative procedures, and disaster preparedness.
Henry County ARES is currently seeking FCC licensed volunteers to be part of this service. Those who would like to be a part of this service and are not licensed, training will be offered to help you get your amateur radio license.
